Silver Fit is an exercise and wellness programme specifically designed to keep older adults (50+) mobile, independent and strong. In our classes, you are challenged through gentle exercise in a safe and suitable group class format that is progressed and varied as needed for each individual. The classes are fun and social and we encourage people to work at their own pace and ability. Silver Fit is helping a generation defy the odds, shatter stereotypes and live out their golden years actively.
Regular physical activity produces a number of favourable responses that contribute to healthy and active ageing. Exercise has been shown to have positive effects on cognitive and physical functions, as well as on mobility and stability. The Silver Fit exercise programme has been proven to reduce the risk of falling and fractures, improve the ability to carry out day-to-day activities and increase confidence and independence. Older adults who have an active lifestyle enjoy an improved quality of life in their later years.
Silver Fit is a countrywide exercise programme that aims to create a culture of active ageing by providing well-researched exercise programmes that are specifically suitable for older adults. Although ageing is inevitable, many of the adverse effects of ageing can be counteracted if you keep moving.
Research has also shown it’s never too late to start an exercise programme. Our goal is to create an opportunity for older adults to have better health and well-being as opposed to illness, disability and dependency.
